Free Nighttime Home Safety Guide
What happens in the dark hours matters more than you think
Most homes are only ever "unsafe" for a few minutes a night — the walk from bed to the washroom, in the dark, half-asleep. Here's what actually helps, starting tonight.

5 small changes that make nighttime safer
None of these require renovation, an electrician, or spending a lot of money.
1
Clear the path before bed
Slippers, wires, low stools — anything on the floor between the bed and the door is a hazard at 3 a.m. that's invisible during the day. A 30-second check before sleeping goes a long way.
2
Light the route, not the room
A harsh overhead light disturbs sleep and takes a few seconds to find in the dark. A soft, automatic light near the floor — at the doorway or corridor — lights the path without anyone needing to search for a switch.
3
Keep water and a phone within arm's reach
A large share of nighttime falls happen because someone got up to fetch something they could have kept beside the bed.
4
Use non-slip mats where floors meet water
Washroom thresholds and areas just outside them are where a lot of falls actually happen — a simple rubber-backed mat reduces this risk significantly.
5
Get eyesight checked yearly, after 50
Poor night vision is one of the most under-diagnosed contributors to falls in low light — and one of the easiest to fix with a simple check-up.

A light that turns itself on, exactly when it's needed
HabiHome's motion-sensor light sticks anywhere — no wiring, no electrician — and switches on automatically the moment someone walks past. Corridor, washroom door, staircase, or bedside.
